A new report by Onclusive, which examines the impact of global corporate communications on diversity, equity and inclsion (DEI) and sustainability has identified top-ranking companies.
In its latest Brand Influence Report — released on 1 April — Onclusive found that Microsoft has took the lead for sustainability communications impact (97/100), while Johnson & Johnson (89/100) topped scores for DEI communications worldwide.
The report results, which can go up to 100 points, measures how effectively the world’s most influential brands communicate DEI and sustainability commitments across mainstream and social media.
It identified “significant difference” in sustainability comms performance among the top 10 brands, as YouTube (7/100) and McDonald’s (14/100) ranked amongst the lowest. Meanwhile, it acknowledged that the Trump administration’s DEI scaleback has impacted scores.
Jack Richards, global head of integrated and field marketing at Onclusive said: "It’s clear for marketers, PRs and communication professionals, the current landscape requires a clear and defined strategy.
“Without crafting a credible narrative even the strongest DEI and sustainability initiatives can be overlooked or worse misinterpreted. Brands have to take a proactive approach, stay ahead of emerging narratives and engage with stakeholders in meaningful ways in order to shape public perception rather than being shaped by it.
