Tom Whitwell is Assistant Editor of The Times, with responsibility for Online. Over the last 18 months, he's been developing Times Online and building the new paid-for site which successfully launched in May 2010.

He joined The Times in 2006 as Communities Editor on Times Online. Before The Times, Tom Whitwell started his journalism career in music magazines, becoming Editor of Mixmag in 1999. After a stint as Deputy Editor of The Face, he became an editorial consultant for IPC, Cedar and John Brown, and founded the successful technology blog musicthing.co.uk.
