10 things I hate about the summer

I hate summer. Don’t get me wrong, I don't mind a holiday, but I do resent working when the sun is shining.

The office gets hot, sticky and smelly, while the work gets pointless. Let's face it, the country's on holiday.

Here are some reasons why we should all take the summer off:

1. Air conditioning fights. Picture the scene: It's boiling in this office. I'm sweating. It's putting me in a bad mood. By the end of the day - I stink. But the women opposite reckons she's cold. Cue tedious air conditioning fight, you know how it goes. I turn it up. She turns it down, blah blah.

2. Holiday rage. For some reason parents think that they have priority in booking holidays in July and August.  I don't. If I asked first, I go on holiday.

3. Summer drinks parties. I don’t want to drink Pimms in London after work. I want to go home.

4. Travelling to work. It is too hot to travel on trains, tubes and buses. Some people don’t seem to know about the existence of deodorant. Or even a shower!

I just don't believe that ingrained, deep mustard BO flavour can be produced in one day!

5. The weather. If it rains in the summer, that makes me cross too. You just feel cheated, and let down.

6. Clothing crisis. I think my pasty white legs are probably too old for shorts at work. And while I think sandals are fine, it seems most people disagree.

7. My colleagues. The good ones are all on holiday, so I am left to do their work. The ones that are still around are of no use.

8. Clients on holiday. The minute you get a perfect interview opportunity, your client has buggered off to someplace exotic.

9. Ice cream runs. I stopped getting excited about ice cream when I was 12. If someone is doing a cigarette run - let me know.

10. Mowing the lawn. Nothing to do with work but it pisses me off. It's just so dull. And the neighbour did our bit at the front the other day, just to emphasize my laziness. Bitch.
