Tennis stars, Moravian vineyards and a newly born tiger mean a varied day for Tereza Procházková, MD of Best Communications

My day

6.00am: The alarm wakes me (but it‘s five more minutes before I get up). I start every morning with 20-minutes' exercise in-front of the news – our political situation makes me a little worried, but then a newly born tiger at Prague Zoo makes me smile. I am not the only one awake, the protectors of our house in the Czech countryside, my cat and two dogs, are up and ready for breakfast.

6.30am: Quick shower, kiss my husband to wake him up and it‘s time for some tea and breakfast while checking the flowers in my garden. I wish I had more time, but the garden will have to wait until the weekend.

7.00am: Driving to Prague with my husband, we chat about my day – I am meeting the Czech tennis stars, Petra Kvitova and Tomas Berdych, at a press briefing for our NetJets Europe client. My husband is a huge tennis fan so he‘s teaching me everything he knows about the players. He thinks it’s very unfair that I‘m the one meeting them.

7.50am: I arrive at the office in the centre of Prague (just across the river from the National Theatre) and it’s time to check the cuttings.

8.30am: Office meeting to run through activities for week ahead. There is plenty to keep us busy – the launch of a new Disney Channel TV series, a press briefing for a nuclear energy client and an interview with brand president for Starbucks in CEE region. Also, the important matter of a team trip to the Moravian vineyards this summer!

9.30am: Final preparations for the tennis stars‘ briefing today – check all the press materials and suppliers, last calls to journalists to make sure they are fully briefed on today´s program and a final chat through the arrangements with the team.

10.30am: Catch-up with the pitch team about a proposal we’re drafting for a leading Czech industrial company. It would be a great client to have and I‘m quietly confident, but we need to wow it by the end of the week.

12.30pm: Lunch with the team who are working on a new project for one of our gastro clients. It is a great chance to drive this brand in CEE region and where better to think of foodie PR ideas than when you‘re eating!

1.30pm: Leave for the airport, where we will be announcing tennis stars, Petra and Tomas, as the NetJets Europe latest clients.

2.45pm: The press briefing starts and I have never seen such excited journalists. Everyone is eager to meet Petra and Tomas and a bright-blue sky means the photos are perfect. I even manage to look like a tennis aficionado thanks to my husband´s briefing in the morning, so I get him Petra’s signature to say thanks.

4.30pm: Back in the office, and everyone wants to hear about our briefing, seems it’s not just journalists who get excited.

5.00pm: Catch up on emails and activity from the afternoon to make sure I am up to speed on everything.

6.00pm: A networking event of German Chamber of Commerce. As the Czech Republic attracts more and more international businesses, working with the various national Chambers is important. We also have weekly language lessons in the Best offices – German, French, Czech and English – to ensure we can communicate in different markets.

7.45pm: My husband picks me up and we drive home for a quiet dinner (including more questions about meeting Petra and Tomas) with a nice glass of wine. Lovely.
