Anyone can become a global star by producing their own video content and sharing it with the world via YouTube, Facebook, Instagram et al.
Perhaps this was what was running through the mind of Greg Knight, Conservative candidate in today's election for East Yorkshire.
Knight has become an unlikely internet and social media hit after doing just that and starring in his own election broadcast that is so bad it's good.
With a wooden delivery of his lines, an uninspiring backdrop of an empty campaign office, dodgy camera work and a cheesy song reminiscent of a 1980's tea time quiz show it all adds up to being a winner.
Let's look at the lyrics:
'You’ll get accountability with Conservative delivery,
Make sure this time you get it right, vote for Greg Knight...'
The video has caught people's imagination and resulted in several hilarious spoof versions being created. My favourite features 1980s pop star Jimmy Summerville dancing to the Greg Knight campaign song. It's comedy gold.
Spend 30 seconds looking at it now to brighten your day...
From a professional comms point of view at least Knight is on message but that's not the point. Politics is a serious business and these are serious times so a bit of fun can go a long, long way.
That's why Greg Knight is my Communicator of the Week.
