Deputy Communications and Engagement Manager
£49,083 to £52,116
Permanent
Location: Woolwich and some flexible home working
The Royal Borough of Greenwich has a key role to play in tackling the housing crisis in London. We’re building the biggest council housing development in Europe and, due to some of the largest regeneration schemes in the capital, we’re experiencing rapid transformation. We’re also renowned for our rich naval history, including a UNESCO World Heritage Site and our creative and cultural industries at Greenwich Peninsula and Woolwich.
However, in a borough where 50 per cent of our residents live in poverty, we're on a mission to make sure people have access to a safe and secure homes and that planned development delivers positive change.
We’re looking for an experienced communications professional to lead on communications for several high-profile projects such as the development of our new Local Plan, building a state-of the art leisure centre, and much more. You’ll develop and deliver proactive and reactive multi-channel communications strategies and campaigns that strengthen the Council’s identity and reputation. You will also have a good understanding of stakeholder management and experience of advising senior leaders.
We offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast-moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation. Our communities are diverse, and we want our workforce to reflect and respect this diversity and bring richness, productivity and innovation.
We’re based in Woolwich, but the role will comprise a mix of office and home working. In addition, we offer a comprehensive range of staff benefits such as 28 days leave a year plus bank holidays, and an excellent local government pension scheme and many staff networks.
When applying please take time to read the job description and person specification carefully and use your supporting statement to explain why and how you meet the criteria for this role.
Interviews will be held on the 12 and 13 December 2024 at The Woolwich Centre, 35 Wellington Street, SE18 6HQ.
