Communications and PR Officer

In the role you will support the delivery of multi-channel communications campaigns and media relations in support of British Cycling’s strategic objectives, and producing high-quality copy and content for news releases, e-newsletters, digital platforms and publications.

About You

  • You will thrive as part of a passionate in-house team, building positive relationships with colleagues, and external stakeholders and agencies to deliver brilliant work.
  • You will have experience of producing high-quality PR activity across a range of media. Ideally you will have previous experience working in a PR or communications role.
  • You will have experience in planning and delivering communications plans and campaigns, being adaptive and driven to produce high impact results/outcomes.
  • While an understanding of cycling is preferable, it is essential that you have a passion for highlighting the life changing impact of riding bikes and the wider benefits to health, society and communities.

What will you be doing?

  • Proactively lead on the creative coverage of domestic competition across National Series and National Championships events of all disciplines, working with internal (including content and sports team) and external stakeholders (event organisers and contractors etc).
  • Support the development and implementation of innovative communications campaigns to support the organisation’s strategy, working closely with colleagues to land positive media coverage and engagement across digital channels to build affinity with our brand.
  • Deliver communications support for British Cycling major events including the Lloyds Tour of Britain women’s and men’s races; encompassing PR, media and communications activities in the build-up, during and post events.
  • Using proactive and reactive media tactics to help increase visibility of British Cycling’s campaigning and influencing work to enable more people to cycle everyday journeys - ultimately supporting member advocacy and engagement.
  • Proactively work with colleagues across the organisation to plan and shape communications related to British Cycling’s participation, volunteering and membership activities, thinking creatively to raise the profile of the organisation’s work through both news and digital media.
